Quelitales Lodge

Trips: 1

Quelitales Lodge is a bird-friendly lodge about 45 minutes from Tapanti National Park. It is considerably higher than El Copal Lodge, and it has a couple of different species that are hard to find elsewhere in the Talamanca mountain range. While the lodge has only one significant trail (relatively steep), the grounds around the lodge provide ample birding.  A waterfall location on the grounds can provide good looks at the uncommon Green-fronted Lancebill - a hummingbird that never visits the feeders, but is frequently seen on perches under the waterfall. The hummingbird feeders close by will provide excellent looks ar several highland species including Black-bellied Hummingbird and Green Thorntail. The trailhead at the same location is the pefect place to watch for the Scaled Antpitta which comes regulalrly at dawn and dusk. The White-eared ground-sparrow can also be found around the lodge.

The lodge has excellent food and good accomodations. It can be done easily in conjunction with El Copal and Tapanti National Park.
